The Bengal Cattery:
Copper Penny was started by me, Jessica, this year in 2003. I became interested in Bengals as I was searching one day online about showing cats. I orginally wanted to show just my household cats, but when I stumbled across the Bengal cats, I was taken back! Their stunning coats, elegant walk, playful nature, just made me want to devote my time and effort into this stunning breed. I decided to ask a cattery, Cazpurr, more about showing and breeding, and about getting a kitten. First, I showed my Household pets as a trial, to make sure showing was something I liked...BOY did I love it! Then I started working with rescues, taking in pregnant and nursing moms to get some hands on experiance with assisting in birthing litters, the complications associated with that, along with the joy of delivering kittens. After helping 5 different rescue cats deliver thier kittens, bottlefeeding 15 plus kittens, and seeing them to health through the adoption age, I'm ready to become a responsible, caring, devoted breeder!
My plans for Copper Penny Bengals:
First, I will be showing my kitten, and any kitten I aquire, at shows all over the tri-state area. I prefer that any kitten that is to be bred in the future be titled first, before breeding. Although I may in the future purchase an adult Stud or queen that may not be titled, I will be sure that in the event that the stud or queen is not titled that it is within the breed standard, and will get a second opinion other than my own, to confirm such cat meets those expectations. After working with rescue cats, I see that I do not want to contribute to the overpopulation of cats! For this reason, any kittens or cats coming from Copper Penny will have the following:
- Early Spay/ Neuter. Any kitten that is not for responsible breeding purposes will leave here fixed--NO exceptions!
- Written Health Guarantee - All cats here will be tested for FELV, FIP & FIV, along with a full vet examine.
- Vaccinations- age appropiate
- All buyers of pet kittens will have a signed contract, which will include a Vet reference (which will be checked) and provisions that will protect the kitten or cat for it's entire life.
I will be striving to produce cats that are of course as close to perfect as possible :) but in addition, I'll be looking to have glitter, rosettes, good size, and copper colored-high contrast coat in each show/breeding cat. Copper Penny will also be working toward receiving the TICA "Outstanding Cattery"award.
This is my House Hold Pet, Simba.
